And when Katherine loses her very last baby tooth, Toothiana comes to collect this great prize. But she is not the only one hoping to collect the tooth, or Katherine herself. Flying monkeys! Flying elephants! The return of Pitch! Yet, amidst all the action comes a connection that Katherine cannot deny—a seeming bond between her and the villain she fears the most.

And that bond may take more than just her life, but her very soul. It is, without hyperbole, the Empire Strikes Back of this series. The touch of sadness in Toothiana gives her and the other characters a textured, real feel in a way not present in the film. Toothiana herself was a real revelation. Her tragic backstory was simply mythic, bringing in a more Oriental tone hitherto not seen in this series. I also loved the notion, different than the film, that the tooth fairy armies are all actually her. Also, a new force from our imagination emerges as a more neutral arbiter on affairs.

The Spirit of the Forest restores North's old bandit band back from stone. A magical elephant ends up turning a man into a monkey. A monkey army is said to be part-monkey, part-man man-like in mind, mostly and consisting of the bad parts of both. Mother Nature makes an appearance. Toothiana herself is a result of a union between a man and a once-immortal winged woman; she also has the ability to divide into multiple miniature versions of herself. Bunnymund goes through a temporary bodily change.

Violence Fights between the forces of good and evil break out. Injuries are inflicted, but the only serious damage mentioned is a wounded wing and the implied deaths of two people these deaths are part of Toothiana's past and so are told in story-form. Shelley Wilson. Kaylee Bowing.

New Releases. Toothiana, Queen of the Tooth Fairy Armies. Description Beware a tooth fairy queen scorned in this, the third chapter book of Academy-Award winner William Joyce's The Guardians series. Now that the back story of Nicholas St. North has been told, and the mysteries of E.

Aster Bunnymund have been revealed, it's only fair that our journey continue with one of the most riveting, mysterious heroes of all time: Toothiana, Queen of the Tooth Fairy Armies. Do you want in on a few of her secrets now? Well--she can turn herself into a multitude of selves, all depending on nightly teeth-placed-under-pillows rates. And her diminutive size is not at all indicative of how fierce a warrior she can be.

Be forewarned: if you get in between her and a tooth-covering pillow, there'll be Spell to pay.
